Garden Elopement in Burnaby BC

This day was the perfect mix of city elopement, and romantic garden wedding. Helen & Ryan were the most relaxed couple I have ever seen on a wedding day. There was no rush, no timeline panic, no stress. They wanted their day to be simply about their love, and celebrating it with their family. And that's exactly what they did.

We started the day at the Fairmont Waterfront (which is a great hotel for getting ready, as the rooms have really nice big windows & there's a rooftop garden); they shared their first look (Ryan cried, I cried, her dad cried. There was a lot of crying.), we took some portraits where the light was weirdly good for 1:00pm as the windows of the building served as a natural reflector, and we took some time for the happy couple to just... be.

Next was taking some portraits in coal harbour. Did we get kicked out by security? Possibly. All part of the excitement. Keeps me on my toes.

After that, the three of us piled into a limo (side note; I absolutely love riding in the limo with my couples. a) it makes me feel like the boujie queen I am. b) I love taking that time to just chat with you two) for a short ride to the Burnaby Mountain Rose Garden. The rest of the family was waiting for us there, and they had the sweetest intimate ceremony.

The rest of the evening was relaxed, and we took some time to soak in all that beautiful golden light before everyone snuck away for an intimate dinner downtown.

This is just a simple reminder that your wedding day should be how YOU dream it. Not how your mom, aunt, grandma, dad. It is your day. If you want to have a big ol' party with 150 of your friends, go for it. And if you want to do what Helen & Ryan did, do it. Don't let anyone change your mind when it comes to your wedding day.
